Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy | Guildford 10K | Fast & Scenic Closed-Road Race in Surrey

Run with Purpose. Run for Your Community.

Since 2008, Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy (GTCC) has been quietly transforming lives across Guildford. Established to provide non-judgemental, positive support to those who live, work, or visit the town, GTCC is rooted in the Christian faith and open to all. We warmly welcome clients and volunteers of every faith — and of none.

Now, you can be part of that story.

By signing up to run for GTCC, you will be supporting three inspiring projects, each devoted to improving wellbeing in our community and offering compassionate support to the vulnerable, marginalised, and those experiencing loss, stress, or anxiety.

Street Angels

When most of us are asleep, our Street Angels are out in Guildford Town Centre on Friday and Saturday nights from 10:30pm to 4am. They offer a calm presence and practical help to those who need it most — whether that’s someone who is homeless, a late-night reveller separated from friends, someone who has had too much to drink, or simply someone who has missed the last train home.

Armed with first aid kits, water, phone chargers, flip-flops, space blankets, and even the occasional lollipop, Street Angels provide reassurance, safety, and a listening ear during the town’s busiest nighttime hours.

Community Angels

Loneliness and social isolation can affect anyone. Community Angels offer a befriending service that gently walks alongside individuals on a weekly basis, helping them reconnect, rebuild confidence, and rediscover a sense of belonging.

Referrals come from social prescribers, GP practices, the police, self-referrals, and other agencies — each person met with warmth, dignity, and encouragement.

Volunteer Chaplains

Our Volunteer Chaplains bring a non-judgemental, confidential listening ear into everyday spaces across the community — from GP practices and night-time venues to the bus station, Surrey Police, schools, and retirement complexes. Sometimes, simply being present and willing to listen can make all the difference.

Today, GTCC is powered by a dedicated team of over 130 volunteers, supported by three paid coordinators, a CEO, and an active Board of Trustees. Together, they form a compassionate network committed to making Guildford a safer, kinder place.
